Product Description
The Pelton turbine is an impact hydraulic turbine designed for high-head, small-flow hydropower applications. Its working jet center line is tangent to the runner pitch circle, with runner blades composed of double bowl-shaped buckets. Available in horizontal and vertical shaft configurations, the runner always operates in atmospheric conditions.
The runner is the turbine's rotating component—a circular disc with evenly spaced buckets fixed around its periphery. Each bucket consists of two hemispherical bowls joined together with a central splitter that divides the water jet into two equal parts, directing flow to the bucket's outer edge.
- Buckets deflect water jets through 160° to 170° for optimal energy transfer
- Constructed from durable materials including cast iron, cast steel, bronze, or stainless steel

When water flow is stopped by advancing the spear, a breaking jet nozzle directs water at the back of the vanes to rapidly stop the runner's rotation, ensuring quick shutdown capability.
