Turgo Turbine - High Head Small Hydroelectric Generator
The Turgo turbine is specifically engineered for power stations operating with high head and low flow conditions. Water flows from the reservoir or pressure pool through the diversion pipe, then exits the nozzle at high velocity to strike the runner blades, driving rotation. After passing through the runner, water discharges into the tailwater tank and downstream channel.
This inclined-jet turbine is designed for small hydropower stations with water heads ranging from 20-200 meters, effectively driving hydrogenerators to produce electrical energy. Available in both vertical and horizontal shaft configurations, it features bearing shell structures with automatic, manual, and electric speed regulation options.
Technical Design Features
The Turgo turbine features an inclined runner blade axis, creating water flow that angles toward the unit axis. The welded inclined volute connects to a cast-welded seat ring with twelve struts inclined at 35° to horizontal.
The 45° inclined guide water mechanism includes 24 guide blades, transmission components, turbine top cover, and bottom ring. Guide vanes feature double-supported structure with symmetrical airfoils and wooden bearings lubricated by flowing water, with rubber seals preventing leakage.
The runner chamber is precision-welded from die-forged stainless steel plates with finished inner surfaces. Ten stainless steel blades cast at 45° angles to the main shaft are controlled by a scraper relay system, enabling 30° blade rotation.
The inclined volute and seat ring design creates a straight flow path to the draft tube, enhancing turbine efficiency while reducing the unit's overall footprint.
